Pt. 6 "Built by Fire"

May 24, 2026    Pastor J. Leon Gant Jr.

Built by Fire argues that Pentecost was never intended to terminate in spectacle but to mature into structure. The descent of the Spirit in Acts 2 was not simply an ecstatic interruption; it was the divine construction of a new humanity shaped by conviction, repentance, devotion, and communal discipline. Thus, holy fire must be understood not only as ignition but also as architecture. It is insufficient for the believer to celebrate the sensation of God without submitting to the systems God produces. The truest evidence of Pentecostal power is not simply that one was moved in a moment, but that one was made stable for a lifetime. Fire, then, is not only what awakens the soul; it is also what fortifies the soul for history, pressure, witness, and endurance. To be built by fire is to become a life in which divine power has turned spiritual emotion into spiritual formation.
